iMETOS 3.3 - Transmission log

This article explains how to create a transmission log from an iMETOS 3.3 station and send it to METOS Support when requested. Providing a correct log helps our support team diagnose issues faster and reduce resolution time.


Important Notes Before You Start

Before generating and sending a transmission log, please ensure:

  • Your iMETOS 3.3 is running the latest firmware

  • The station battery is charged to approximately 6.5V

  • You follow all steps exactly as described

⚠️ Logs sent without the required settings may delay troubleshooting.


Requirements

You will need the following:

  • A computer with PI Service Terminal installed

  • A mini USB cable that supports data transfer

  • Physical access to the iMETOS 3.3 station

  • A charged battery (~6.5V)

  • No jumper is required for this operation


Step-by-Step: Creating a Transmission Log

1. Install PI Service Terminal

  • Download the latest release of PI Service Terminal - LINK

  • Install the application - LINK 

  • Launch the application on your computer


2. Connect the iMETOS 3.3 Station

  1. Plug in the USB cable

  2. Turn on the iMETOS 3.3

  3. In PI Service Terminal, make sure the following options are enabled:

    • Save to Log

    • Timestamp

These options are essential for METOS Support team to analyze the log correctly.

  1. Click Connect


3. Wait for the Connection to Complete

  • The connection process may take several minutes

  • The process is complete when the yellow LED stops blinking

? If nothing appears on the screen:

  1. Disconnect the battery and solar panel

  2. Wait 30 seconds

  3. Reconnect both and repeat the steps above


Understanding LED Behavior (Helpful for Troubleshooting)

  • Startup phase:

    • Yellow LED blinks with 0.5-second pauses

  • Transmission phase:

    • Yellow LED blinks with 1-second pauses

    • Number of blinks (1–4) may vary during transmission

Startup time can be longer if the station memory is heavily loaded.


Common Issues & Solutions

No COM Port Appears

Check the following:

  • Battery voltage is around 6.5V

  • Battery cable is properly connected

  • USB cable supports data transfer (some cables are power-only)


Retrieving and Sending the Log

  • The log is automatically saved once Save to Log is enabled

  • The file location is shown in the status bar of PI Service Terminal

To send the log:

  1. Open the folder shown in the status bar or

  2. Click Send in PI Service Terminal

  3. Fill in the required fields

  4. Send the log via email
